Still looking for service hours? Arbor Day is this weekend!

Hello CHAMPS Panthers! Are you interested in the environment? Food? Trees in Parks? Planting trees in parks?! Most importantly, are you interested in STUDENT SERVICE HOURS?!
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the City of Van Nuys has the perfect event for you!
On Saturday, March 9th, from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, at the Van Nuys Recreation Center (the park behind CHAMPS), the city is holding a celebration in honor of Arbor Day! If you'd just like to come and check out the festivities, there will be food, free fruit and shade tree adoptions, music, and more!
However, if you are in search of those sweet, sweet service hours, we have a much more hands-on task for you! The CHAMPS E-CO Club would love your help in planting trees for a for a park that many of us see on a near daily basis, and that all of Van Nuys utilizes for sport and fun!
If you'd like MORE hours, we are also looking for people to volunteer in the process of setting up and taking down the event. Set up will begin at 6 AM, and take down will begin as soon as the event ends at 1:30 PM. You may do as much work as you like, just know that the amount of hours awarded will reflect the amount of work done.
So, if you'd like to help make a difference in our community, get some service hours, learn about the environment, and just have some fun, send an email to Craig Ciampa at expressing your interest, and you'll be good to go! We hope to see you there, and have a wonderful day!
