Dear CHAMPS Community,                       

As we close out a difficult year, I want to reflect on all of our accomplishments to date and some exciting changes and developments for the upcoming year. Our future is bright as we go into rechartering.

This year, we have been inundated with visitors - Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), California Charter Schools Association (CCSA), Western Accreditation of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and California State University Northridge (CSUN). We received a positive report from WASC and have been granted the maximum length of accreditation for the next 3 years. The LAUSD oversight report was received and we were viewed very favorably. They positively cited our co-teaching partnership with CSUN, our Common Core math partnership with UCLA, and our use of Lexile levels and non-fiction texts in English progressive measures for the school. More importantly, we did not receive any areas of corrective action.

Additionally, we are working with our consultant to help us write our charter renewal petition. I have no doubt that we have a compelling story guided by our mission to educate, guide, and inspire creative and critical thinking through artistic experience.
