CONGRATULATIONS ROBOTICS!!

This past weekend we had 2 teams go to Las Vegas to compete in the VEX Robotics Competition. One of the teams went undefeated all day and the other team only lost once, to us. Our 2 teams then alliance in the finals and were undefeated, winning the competition which qualified them for the World Competition.

We now have 3 teams that will compete at World in April.

SPRING DANCE CONCERT

The Dance Academy will hold it's Spring Dance Concert on Friday March 1st and Saturday March 2nd at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollywood.

This concert features work by five distinctive choreographers, who have each developed exciting new work on students from the Dance Academy. Styles and approaches range from, modern, lyrical, classical, hip hop and jazz to contemporary, 'Broadway' influences and expressionistic dance theatre. Choreographers include: Jaclyn Affefat, Madeleine Dahm, Melody McKnight, Ina Haybaek-Rogers and our Guest Artist Mr Jaime Rogers, of West Side Story fame.

Ticket are on sale in the main office in the Phoenix Building, Adults tickets are $20 and student tickets are $10. Show time for both shows is 8:00 PM. The Barnsdall Gallery Theatre is located at 4800 Hollywood Blvd (Atop Olive Hill) in Hollywood, CA 90027.

CONGRATULATIONS FILM STUDENTS

We are delighted to report that two of our CHAMPS film students' commercials have been selected as finalists, out of 14 schools and 36 films, for the City of Los Angeles' Los Angeles Student Media Festival competition. The two commercials are Keaton Applebaum's "Scion Love" and Sean Brennan's "Hold Me Back Buddy".

JUNIOR THEATRE ACADEMY PLAY

Attention CHAMPions! The Junior Theater Academy will soon present our school's first Greek tragedy: Hippolytus, by Euripides. Hippolytus is a powerful, poetic expression of love and the horrors of love.

The show runs in the black box theater from Thursday, February 21, through Sunday, February 24. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults; and they are on sale now at the main office on Mezzanine level of the Phoenix Building.
