AP English Literature, English 10 Honors, English 12, and Contemporary Theater
Scott Bailey graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Theater from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, having missed Magna Cum Laude by 2/100 of a point, a fact that upsets him to this day. He currently holds a Professional Clear Single Subject English Credential with CLAD Certification. He is currently enjoying his 23nd year as a teacher, the last ten of which have been here at CHAMPS. He was recently honored as an Outstanding Educator by the University of Chicago, and a few years ago, he took some of his best and brightest students (as well as a few others) to Scotland where they performed the play Virginia Woolf's Orlando at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He has also directed and acted in scores of plays, mostly the kind where people say "thither" instead of "there" and "wherefore" instead of "why." He is famously bad at small talk or even just polite greetings in the hallway; however, he is more than happy to talk to you about David Mamet (or almost any other writer named David, e.g., David Foster Wallace, David Sedaris, Dave Eggers, David Hirson, David Hare, David Henry Hwang, David Simon, Larry David, etc.). He will also show you pictures of his son, Oliver Waits Bailey, on his phone whether you ask him to or not. Try not to misuse words like "ironically" or "literally" around him or you'll have to listen to him go into this whole thing.
